  • Poverty happens everywhere around the globe and has occurred all throughout history.
  • About 25, 000 people die everyday due to hunger-related causes. That's about 1 person every three and a half seconds.
  • Mostly it's children.

  • In 2001, 6.8 million families in America were living in poverty.

  • In winter of 2007, 37 million Americans were living poorly.
  • Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
  • The poorer the country the more likely it is that payments on loans are from people who have nothing to do with it and never get benefits.
  • "The lives of 1.7 million children will be lost this year because world
    governments have failed to reduce poverty levels."
