How much do you know?
Did you know...?
- Poverty happens everywhere around the globe and has occurred all throughout history.
- About 25, 000 people die everyday due to hunger-related causes. That's about 1 person every three and a half seconds.
- Mostly it's children.
- In 2001, 6.8 million families in America were living in poverty.
- In winter of 2007, 37 million Americans were living poorly.
- Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
- The poorer the country the more likely it is that payments on loans are from people who have nothing to do with it and never get benefits.
"The lives of 1.7 million children will be lost this year because world
governments have failed to reduce poverty levels."
