Many people will not bother to help the needy because they just assume that all the poor and homeless need to do is, "get a job." But it's not that easy.

Though there is much food for everyone, those trapped in poverty, don't have the funds to buy it. They can't eat, and become weaker and sicker day by day. Because they are so sick, they can't get a job, and so continue to become poorer and hungrier, and weaker. They eventually might die.

  • About 25, 000 people die everyday due to hunger-related causes. That's about 1 person every three and a half seconds.
  • Mostly it's children.

  • In 2001, 6.8 million families in America were living in poverty.

  • In winter of 2007, 37 million Americans were living poorly.
  • Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
  • The poorer the country the more likely it is that payments on loans are from people who have nothing to do with it and never get benefits.
